Hello Everyone!
My goodness the Christmas Fever has run away with me! I’ve been meaning to sit down and write this blog for about a fortnight!
We’ve already had our first flurry of snow up here in Highland Perthshire and the whole area is looking beautiful. I do love the mountains in winter – they look just as nature intended.
Of course, it has meant that the ski season up here is now open and with Glenshee less than an hour from Pitlochry we’re bursting with skiers and snowboarders out for the first run of the season! If you’re a winter sports fan then Highland Perthshire is the place to be. The Glenshee Ski Resort is famed for its ski school, snow sports and great views! Book into our accommodation and you can enjoy a short drive to all the fun of the snow with the bustling winter activities of Pitlochry ready and waiting for après ski!
If you prefer your winter sports a little less adventurous but still want to get out and soak up the great outdoors then you MUST check out the winter programme from Highland Safaris. Their Christmas Experience is a great opportunity to get out and do something as a family, engaging with nature learning all about the Scotland’s Red Deer – a very close cousin of Rudolph I’m told! As well as meeting the Red Deer herd you can also meet Ossian the Barn Owl and wander through a light filled Discover Trail! Warm up back at the Café with a Hot Chocolate and home baking in front of the Peat Burning. This is a magical experience that runs right through in 2015. Check out their website for dates and make sure you book in quickly for accommodation to suit!
Of course, when its cold there’s little warms you better than a good hoolie and we’re certainly known for that up here in the Highlands! Pitlochry’s Street Party on January 1st is now world famous and welcomes people from all over our glorious globe! Atholl Road is closed to traffic and filled with new year revellers. The Vale of Atholl Pipe Band, Jack Delaney’s Ceilidh Band, Silly McBee, the Clown, Shetland’s Up Helly Aa and the Viking Fire Festival Jarl Squad are all there to help you welcome in 2015! Bets bit is, entrance is free for all! HOORAY!
And right through December into January you will find live music in all of our local bars and pubs, with dancing, singing and real Festive atmosphere. Well we have to do something to keep warm and what better way than letting your hair down and enjoying some Highland Hospitality! Check out the Highland Perthshire Website for dates and times of some great Scottish Acts!
Finally, Christmas and New Year is always really busy for accomodation and if our fantastic snow keeps up we' have a busy old January as well! Make sure you book as quickly as possibly (and look out for some great deals as well!)
I do hope to see you all over Christmas and New Year, but if I don’t have a wonderful time wherever you are.
Best Festive wishes, Bea XXX
Lovely, modern, clean cottage in a perfect location. We had a great stay and would definitely return.

Tigh Monadh was absolutely perfect and we're definitely going back. Everything listed was included but there were many extra touches that made us feel so welcome as soon as we walked through the door. A loaf of freshly made bread was waiting for us, as well as some lovely baked goods and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs laid by the owners' hens whom we visited every day. There are a couple of walks pretty much outside your door and plenty to do in the area. The town is nearby if you need anything but Moulin is nice and quiet so you can enjoy a real relaxing holiday. The WiFi was very good and the young one was chuffed to be able to watch her favourite series even though we weren't 'at home' home. We couldn't rate it any more high!
Tigh Monadh
Dear Bea, We had a lovely break, the cottage was a very high standard, comfortable and well appointed. The weather was variable so unfortunately we did not get to have many evenings enjoying outside area however when we did it was very relaxing. We certainly hope to return in the future. Thanks so much, Rosemary.
