What Our Guests Say

We had a really lovely time at the cottage. It was very week equipped and felt very homely. I loved how quiet it was, so rare these days and the view was spectacular.

Such a beautiful view! We had a lovely time at Ballintuim cottage, it was so quiet and peaceful and felt very homely. Our kids loved having a fire and roasting marshmallows and going for an evening walk. Would recommend to anyone looking for a rural retreat.

We stayed here with our 3 kids. We LOVED our stay. The views are priceless. We had everything we needed and more. Pictures didn’t do it justice. Loved the sheep and cows around us!

August 2023

This was possibly the most idyllic location I've ever stayed in—the view from this cottage simply can't be beat! It's also full of all the things you'll need to relax, cook, and unwind.

Absolutely amazing cottage, decorated with love and thought in every detail. We loved to be back next time in Scotland. It's good to arrive by car, we managed arriving by taxi walking down the public footpaths and travel by bus otherwise. Thanks for sharing the place with us! Thomas and family, Germany

July 2023

Outstanding views of Loch Tummel and surrounding mountains which are ever changing in the light. Everything you need for a great break. 45 bird species spotted in the area in 4 (spring) days.

June 2022

Gorgeous views on a stunning location. Impossible not to be amazed by this peaceful spot. The walk to the loch in the hills comes highly recommended. We stayed with a family with 2 small kids and they loved it as well. All you need, including a baby high chair and some games to play for our toddler. Warm welcome, and some suggestions in the house. All fantastic!

September 2021

Wow, what a stunning cottage and location! Feel very lucky to be the first to stay and write in this book. This is clearly a well-loved house which has been beautifully restored/rebuilt. We were also lucky with sunny weather and clear viewes- evenings spent on the bench outside just looking! Also enjoyed walking to Loch Bhac, climbing Schiehallion and swimming in Loch Tummel and Linn of Tummel. Would love to come again! Wildlife is amaging, in three days we spotted 46 bird species either walking from here or walking up Schiehallion or from Garry Bridge to Linn of Tummel. Also saw 4 mammals! Love the decor!

Balintuim Cottage enjoys an enviable elevated position with open views south over Loch Tummel and the mountains of Faragan and Schiehallion beyond. Surrounded by undulating fields of grazing sheep and cattle Balintuim Cottage makes the perfect base for a peaceful, rural holiday in Perthshire. This much loved cottage has been restored over recent years by the architect owner and his family and the property includes the three-bedroom cottage, several barns and various un-roofed ruins. There is a small lochan with many rare wildflowers and plenty of room for parking, dining out and games.
A large outdoor table with benches and  sun umbrella is located just outside the kitchen and a fire pit is ready for bonfires.

The cottage has an unusual double height kitchen (electric cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher) dining table seating six and direct access to the garden. The sitting room has ample comfortable seating and a cosy wood burning stove (initial supply of logs provided). The downstairs bedroom has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room.

Upstairs there are two twin bedded rooms cosily set within the pitch of
the roof and a large carpeted family bathroom with shower over the bath.

There is also a handy utility room on the ground floor with a boot racks,
outdoor clothes hanging, a second microwave, a second fridge and a freezer.

All bedding and towels provided

Heating and electricity included

A refundable good housekeeping deposit of £250 will be required

Please note there is no TV at the cottage

Unfortunatetly we are unable to accept pets at Balintuim Cottage

Please note the hillside track up to the cottage is unsurfaced, uneven and steep in places so caution is required.

Like many rural properties in Scotland Balintuim Cottage takes its water from a hill supply. The supply is full treated and inspected annually by Perth and Kinross Council to ensure it meets the stringent requirements for private water supplies. Occasionally after heavy rain the peat in the ground causes the water to become brown in colour - it remains completely safe to drink.
